With Doctor Who set to return later this year, we’re feverishly looking for spoilers and pics… hey, whatever gets us through the night, ok?
We stumbled upon this interesting piece on io9 that says the series is heading to film in Lanzarote for the first time since 1984 and that the episode, penned by Peter Harness will, according to showrunner Stephen Moffat, see “The Doctor is returning to the scene of an old adventure – but there have been sinister changes since his last visit.”
So what, I hear you say, well… i09 goes on to rightly point out that “the last episode in question was Planet of Fire, when Lanzarote played both itself and the volcanic planet Sarn. It’s more likely that the production is returning to Sarn, where the Doctor tangeled with the Master. And since we’ve heard from Sylvester McCoy that there will be a new, “very scary,” Master coming, this could be the episode re-introducing the character.”
Could this be the return of The Master – last played by John Simm in the Tennant years? We certainly hope so because, with the Daleks being diluted down over recent episodes, it’ll be nice to see The Doctor’s true arch-nemesis return.
