It’s been three years since we had the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and while some loved it and some hated it, many thought it was just ok… but one thing we all agree on is that we do still want more of Ewan McGregor’s Kenobi.
And we might just be getting it.
Ever since the series dropped, McGregor has said many times that he wants to return to the role and in October last year, he said that he really wants to go back to the Clone Wars timeline and put on the armour and battle alongside Anakin, Ahsoka and Rex and Cody.

“Obviously, between the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and when Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi, there’s got to be another few stories in there,” the star said at LA Comic Con, however, he went on to explain that what he wants to do most is in Kenobi’s earlier years during the Clone Wars, not in his future: “I’d quite like to wear that armor. I was speaking to someone earlier, from the Clone Wars. I think that would be something that I would enjoy.”
TIDBIT:
In the cancelled Star Wars Underground live-action series that was in development under George Lucas before the Disney buyout, one of the stories reportedly featured Obi-Wan going to Coruscant and facing Darth Maul for the final duel; we now know that Kenobi and Maul have their final duel on the sands of Tattooine as seen in Star Wars Rebels, but it’s a fun idea.
Underworld have over 60 scripts completed before, em, not happening and they also featured how Han and Lando met and would have confirmed Boba Fett survived the Sarlaac Pit, so it seems that Disney has covered a lot of that ground by now anyway.
Now, scooper Daniel Richtman is saying he’s heard that a second season is in development, although, as of now, there’s no word on who would be in it or even of it’s set for Disney+ but it’s still heartening that there’s possibly talks of more Obi-Wan.
On a personal level, while I had issues with a lot of decisions in the first season, on the whole, I had a lot of fun with it. When they brought Liam Neeson back as Qui-Gon, my excitement levels were officially through the roof, so yes, Disney, do this… bring back Kenobi, do it properly and i promise you, you’ll have a hit on your hands, be it on the big or small screen.
Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all.
George Lucas had a crazy – but brilliant – idea for Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon that he abandoned
The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The series stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader.
Joining the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie. “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is directed by Deborah Chow and executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and Joby Harold
