Brand new screenshots and details on Telltale’s The Walking Dead’s third season have emerged fresh on the heels of Telltale’s live presentation at SDCC where they joined by Skybound Entertainment to deliver fresh news on the game.

An interesting note from Telltale’s blog was that unlike past seasons where Clementine relied on the protection of others, this time she stands shoulder to shoulder with other characters such as Javier. In fact this time around Clem will be the protector taking into her care young AJ, whom fans of the game will recognize as Rebecca’s son, a survivor that Clem was traveling with in season 2. While we are getting a brand new story here, this also means that aspects of past seasons will carry over, as well as past choices, but it will still provide a good entry point for newcomers to the game. Though, the games are cheap and HIGHLY entertaining, so if you are a newcomer you really have no excuse to not have played seasons 1 and 2 before the third edition drops.

The other big news, though we had some idea of this, is the confirmation that Javier, the other character in the previously screenshots, will indeed be playable. The blog does state though that we may not be being as both characters in the same time frame. Could this mean a time rewind or fast forward? Javier has been described as a survivor struggling to keep his family together in the face of the undead apocalypse.

With The Walking Dead season 3 coming this fall, as well as the upcoming Batman game dropping in a few weeks, and the Michonne mini-series released earlier this year, it looks like Telltale is on quite a roll.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
