Wow, we honestly had no idea that this was almost a thing…

An open-world Batman game, in the era before the Arkham series, would have really been something for the fans to get behind but sadly, despite being based on one of the best (if not THE best) superhero movies around, it wasn’t to be.

“When The Dark Knight was first announced as a follow-up to Batman Begins, video game publisher EA almost immediately began to work on a video game counterpart. EA  partnered up with video game developer Pandemic to work on The Dark Knight game. Unfortunately, due to a combination of middling reviews and sales from Batman Begins’ video game, poor management, and a plethora of production setbacks, The Dark Knight video game was eventually cancelled.

It looks like the game was set to be pretty big and immersive, sadly, it just couldn’t support itself.

Ah well… where;s that copy of Arkham Knight?

Thanks to the guys at DarkKnightNews for the scoop
