We only have a few more months until Bond returns to our screen with Spectre. My anticipation is palpable at this point. I was a massive fan of Skyfall, and in preparation for the release of the film, I have been going through all the old Bond Films.

However, it would seem that today has brought some bad news. It has been confirmed by Sam Mendes himself, that he will not return for Bond’s 25th outing.

In an interview with BBC Radio 5, Mendes stated: “I do think this is probably it, I think five years for the two movies, it feels now almost, even though we’ve only just finished shooting it, like one big experience. It was a fantastic life-changing thing, but I don’t think I could go down that road again. It’s more a lifestyle choice than a job. You have to put everything on hold.

This is disappointing to hear, though I suppose it is important to remember that most directors of Bond (in the modern era at least) only stick around for a single movie.

So we should consider ourselves lucky that we go Mendes for two films.

In related news, the director spoke about the theme tune for the movie to the BBC:  “The song’s been recorded and it’s fantastic and I’m very excited about it… you won’t have to wait long [until you get more details].”

So far there’s no details known about the track or who recorded it, though the word not the Bond Grapevine has Ellie Goulding as the favourite to have done the work… what do you think, who do you think is the singer on the 24th Bond movie?
