So, while we’re all getting excited Daredevil Season 2 and Jessica Jones, it’s easy to forget that Luke Cage and Iron Fist are coming to.

And, it just so happens that we have some details on Luke Cage…

First up, a full synopsis has been released that reads:

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Actress and FTN favourite Alfre Woodward (who we confirmed was in the series here) will play Mariah Dillard, “a local Harlem politician. She is also the cousin of Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali). Dillard is “looking to bring a new era of change to the streets she grew up on. Her personal life and professional career are thrown into turmoil by both Harlem’s newest hero Luke Cage as well as her cousin Cottonmouth’s nefarious acts.”

Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said: “Alfre has an incredible, unique, and intimidating presence on screen that makes her perfect as a leader of the Harlem community. We couldn’t be more excited that an actress as celebrated and talented as Alfre has decided to join us on this adventure.”

Dillard could well be the villain Black Mariah, but it’s just speculation at the minute.

In other Luke Cage news Frank Whaley will play Detective Rafael Scarfe & Simone Missick will play Missy, “a woman with a strong sense of justice,” who may well be the metahuman P.I Misty Knight – both are pictured below.

We’re so excited for this one…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
