So, you all know we got very excited about the The Flash and Supergirl crossover, right?
Well, now another cool detail has been revealed about the episode and we like what we hear.
Grant Gustin has confirmed that the episode will be called Worlds Finest and we think, like others, that there’s a clue in the lack of an apostrophe in ‘Worlds’.
You see, whenever DC characters would meet up to fight a big bad- primarily Batman and Superman – it would sometimes be called World’s Finest, as in the finest in the world. However, with Flash exploring the concept of alternate earths, we’re starting to think the lack of punctuation refers to the worlds being plural… i.e., Supergirl is on an different earth and The Flash will meet her on an earth that isn’t his – two worlds.
This would be very clever because it keeps it canon and also means they don’t have an effect on each other’s shows: “Supergirl must not live in Barry’s world/universe. To that, some will retort, “Well, then she must be on Earth-Two.” To that, I counter: National City has not displayed even a whiff of the retro/art deco Earth-Two aesthetic we have glimpsed on The Flash. That leads me, at least, to rule out Earth-Two as Kara’s second home.
“Maybe another alternate Earth is Barry’s springtime stop? Whatever the case, the episode title’s nod to worlds supports the general theory — as well as allows for another possibility, that each hero is plucked from their current universe and deposited on a common “away” field to battle some Super Bad.”
There are of course other questions – like will the episode have any knock on effect on the Arrow-verse? Is there a reason the two meet? There is a big rumour that they might meet to fight a big bad… although on short notice, should this be a thing?
Well, imagine if the rumour that Danny Trejo wanted to be Lobo had something to do with all this? Is it possible this has all been in the works for a while? We’re just having fun… but isn’t it great to speculate? Because, frankly, Flash and Supergirl meeting to fight Lobo? Well, that right there would be a little bit of magic.
Just saying.
