WATCH: If you don’t like the new Ghostbusters trailer don’t worry, it’s perfectly rational…

March 16th, 2016 by Marc Comments

We’re not going to beat around the bush, while some of here at FTN are going to give the new Ghostbusters movie a chance, others feel like the new trailer was more than enough.

Interestingly, and you’ll see there’s a reason for it in the video below, a lot of us here at FTN are in our 30s, while others are in their 20s. And it tended to be the ones in later years who felt the most hatred for the new movie trailer –  and the idea of a reboot in general.

And it’s not a sexist thing or a racist thing, not even in the slightest – it’s because it’s a remake and, to many of us, the trailer looks, well, bad.

But according to the folks at Storybrain, there’s a really good reason for the dislike for the new movie…

They say that often our feelings are very rational because, in many ways, our feelings for the original Ghostbusters (or Robocop, or Point Break etc) are inseparable from the real world.

So, watch the video and remember, love it or loath it, you have every right to not like the new trailer or the idea of the new movie – and it’s not because you’re full of any sort of hate but in fact it may well be the most rational response of all.

ALSO: Scroll down for Kevin Smith’s reaction to the trailer and also for a fun video that shows Mr Stay Puft’s reaction to the new trailer – that glance at the screen had us crying with laughter.

Why you don’t like the new Ghostbusters movie:

Kevin Smith’s not terribly impressed with the new Ghostbusters trailer: “Whoever cut this trailer needs to be sat down, and I’m not going to call for their job to be taken away from them but they need to be scolded. It could’ve been all men with the same jokes, and it still would have sucked. The trailer’s not strong, and that doesn’t mean the movie’s gonna blow, like again the fucking pedigree of this movie is undeniable. There’s no way all these people involved don’t make a fucking funny, at least watchable fun movie.”

Mr Stay Puft watches the new trailer:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
