Ohhhh… this is pretty awesome – a prequel character has just been confirmed for an appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Speaking to The Talk, actor Jimmy Smitts was asked about the upcoming movie and if he was returning as Princess Leia’s adoptive father, Senator Bail Organa and the actor, smiling, replied: “Can you say the word cameo? Can you say the words small part?”
It makes sense if Bail appears in this installment as his home planet of Alderaan is one of the first major losses to the Death Star.
Interestingly, Making Star Wars believed they spotted Smits in the Star Wars Celebration Europe sizzle reel (here) and they have a screen grab:
