We’re not going to lie about it, we are a bit behind on this one, but better later than never, amiright?
So, here’s the skinny… not happy with being the best think in the Netflix corner of the MCU, actor Jon Berthal is making a return to the role that made him a household(ish) name: as Shane in The Walking Dead.
Say what??!
But Shane was very definitely killed at the end of Season 2 and his return is in the ninth season. We know it’s a zombie show but this is having a laugh, surely?
Well, we don’t expect Shane to be returning as a zombie or any of that silliness.
Shane has appeared post-death before (in season 3) as a figment of Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) imagination so it’s likely that he will do so again.
How? Well…
He may be a part of ‘old’ Rick’s visions of a happy future… we’ve already seen some of Rick’s ideas of a happy ending (here) and it is definitely possible Shane could be in there as his death is still a big guilt in Rick’s life.
However, we think there’s also a chance the Rick will die this coming season as we’ve discussed before given the actor’s upcoming departure (here) and Shane could be a part of Rick’s death… maybe a vision of ones he’s loved as he lies dying? Will we see Carl and Lori returning too, perhaps?
Whatever it is, we reckon Shane’s will be a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance… but it’ll nice to see him back.
