With the latest Purge movie in cinemas right now, we have our first trailer for the upcoming TV Show based on the four movies.
The series debuts in September and will focus on four characters and how the one chaotic night a year is going for them: “We follow four what-seem-to-be separate story lines of people going out on the evening and experiencing the Purge,” says James DeMonaco, executive producer.
“The real estate of the 10 hours of the TV allows us to use flashback, where we flashback out of the Purge world, into the regular lives, the non-Purge days, of this future America. We get to see who these people are when it’s not Purge Night and the events that led them to where they are on the particular Purge night that we are following. I think it’s a great device.”
The main story seems to revolve around Gabriel Chavarria who plays Miguel, a Marine “just back from being deployed, and he gets this cryptic information about his sister on Purge Night. So he tries to find her before things get crazy,” said Chavarria.
While the movies, we still haven’t seen The First Purge, do devolve into pretty standard fare, the concept is as high as it comes and, some might argue, is pretty relevant in today’s world, so this series has us intrigued.
The Purge TV show kicks off its 10-episodes on September 4th.
