Get ready for the new daily show

Here’s some of what would have happened in Constantine Season 2… had it happened UPDATED: New trailer for Legends of Tomorrow hits

Look, we loved the Constantine series, ok? We make no secret of it… and we love that he’s in the Arrowverse now.

But.

There’s always aa but.

But… when the first season of Contantine ended on NBC, before The CW decided to get the character in the Arrowverse, the story ended on a massive cliffhanger and to this day, it still annoys us.

Now we do hope that the new animated movie, City of Demons will touch on it, although we’re hearing now that it’s a different continuity so it’s unlikely (it’s so complicated being a fan of these things!).

But now Contantine showrunner Mark Verheiden, who is working on DC Universe’s Swamp Thing series, has talked about some of the things Constantine Season 2 would have done… but he doesn’t hint at how THAT cliffhanger wrapped!

But, he did have some interesting things to say, including how the show was set to draw from the wider DC Universe:

“I believe we had already set up The Spectre in the series, so we definitely had plans to go forward and introduce more DC Universe characters from the dark world, but trying to remember exactly who now,” Verheiden said.

“Obviously, we had Papa Midnight, we had the Spectre. We had characters from the Constantine series that we brought in…I can’t remember specifically off the top of my head now if we had any specific plans on any specific large-scale DC Dark type characters, I do know we had more plans for the Spectre.”

“So I think the short answer to that is I’m not, I don’t wholly remember or I’m not sure, we may not have gone on long enough to have planned all that out, but I think if we had gone forward we would have tried to reach into the DC toolbox and pull out what seemed appropriate to that world.” Verheiden said.

Matt Ryan as Constantine returns on October 9th in City of Demons – full synopsis below – and then on Monday, October 22nd for the full fourth season of Legends of Tomorrow.

A decade after a tragic mistake, family man Chas and occult detective John Constantine set out to cure Chas’s daughter Trish from a mysterious supernatural coma. With the help of the mysterious Nightmare Nurse, the influential Queen of Angels, and brutal Aztec God Mictlantecuhtli, the pair just might have a chance at outsmarting the demon Beroul to save Trish’s soul. In a world of shadows and dark magic, not everything is what it seems, and there’s always a price to pay. The path to redemption is never easy, and if Constantine is to succeed, he must navigate through the dark urban underbelly of Los Angeles, outwit the most cunning spawns of hell, and come face to face with arch-nemesis Nergal – all while battling his own inner demons!

Constantine: City of Demons will hit Blu-ray and Digital on October 9th.
