Following the news yesterday that Will Smith was likely not returning for James Gunn’s Suicide Squad sequel (and may be recast?!) (here), we may have a little ray of sunshine.
Word on the Gotham-vine is that Viola Davis is (currently) set to return as Amanda Waller in the movie.
Waller, of course, is the government boss who controls Suicide Squad, so her return to the franchise would almost be essential.
We also know that Margot Robbie – despite rumours to the contrary – is returning as Harley Quinn.
So, the Squad is beginning to form and with Waller and Harley then the door is wide open to bring in the new and the old.
The could be pretty darn cool.
The Suicide Squad hits cinemas on August 6th, 2021.
