Disney+ looking to recast and re-introduce The Inhumans?

October 17th, 2019 by Marc Comments

Further to our story earlier yesterday about Kevin Feige stepping up to be the main man at Marvel and then trying to bring all the Marvel TV shows under one banner, it seems that one of the more unfortunate corners of theMCU TV world is being retconned.

Yes, word is that The Inhumans – remember that rain wreck of a show? No, it’s ok, no-one else does either – are being recast to make the transition to Disney+’s Ms Marvel series due in Spring 2021,  and then, probably, on to the big screen too.

A new report has it that Black Bolt and Maximus – played by Game of thrones’ Iwan Rheon and Star Trek: Discovery’s Anson Mount – are the main two being sought for the series… which makes sense as Ms Marvel is one of the Inhumans in the comics, i believe.

Apparently Vin Diesel is up for the role of Black Bolt; you may recall Diesel has campaigned for the role before but ultimately ended up playing Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, however he could play BB easily enough as his character cannot speak because if he does he unleashes enough energy to level cities. So Groot could have the voice, while Black Bolt would have the face.

Next up is – and I cast serious doubt over this – is Maximus with Aaron Taylor Johnson in the running (ahem). This seems unlikely as Johnson has already played Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

In the comics Maximus is the brother of Black Bolt, has psionic abilities and is , well, the bad guy.

Star of the failed TV series in which, I might add, he was superb, Anson Mount had this to say about the recasting news: “People might not know this, but in the sort of Hollywood trades, there’s rumored to be a negotiation going on with Disney+ to reattempt this. And apparently… it’s well-known that Vin [Diesel] has always wanted to play Black Bolt, so there’s some kind of negotiations going on.”

Interesting that he mentioned Diesel by name… he goes on:  “I really want there to be another shot at the Inhumans, and I want it to be successful because I’d love to watch it,” Mount continued. “And I think it is the most interesting little corner of the Marvel universe, and I think it just has to be done – it has to have the right home, the right tone, and the right vision overall.”

However, just for the record, given that the Channing Tatum Gambit movie is now almost certainly dead, Mount adds:  “If you’d said ‘Pick your superhero that you want to play,’ that would have been my number two choice; Number one would have been Gambit, and number two would have been Black Bolt.”

So what say you all? Two marvel actors playing two different Marvel characters? And would you like to see Mount as Gambit?

Let me know your thoughts, gang.
