The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s new Amazon Prime animated series Invincible (co-created with artist Cory Walker) has released what must be pretty close to its full cast and… oh, boy.
Casting news has been dripping through for a few days and over the weekend, at Comic-Con@Home, the rest of it has been released and it is utterly superb… and has quite a few Walking Dead stars in it.
Coincidence? I think not.
Zachary Quinto and Khary Payton are to star, although as who has yet to be revealed.
Steven Yeun headlines as Mark Grayson, a 17-year old who comes into his powers as Invincible. JK Simmons will voice Mark’s father, Omni-Man.
Zazie Beetz – who I am still crushing on since Deadpool 2 – will portray Mark’s ex-girlfriend, Amber Bennett; Gillian Jacobs plays Atom Eve; Seth Rogen is Allen the Alien; Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Splode and Walton Goggins as Cecil Stedman.
Also, the cartoon legend himself, Mark Hamill, will play Art, the tailor who creates all the superhero suits while Andrew Rannells is Mark’s friend, William Clockweel.
And now, from Comic-Con@Home, it’s been revealed that Lauren Cohan, Chad Coleman, Michael Cudlitz, Lennie James, Ross Marquand and Sonequa Martin-Green have all signed up too. They join Khary Payton – who rocked as Ezekiel in The Walking Dead.
Based on Kirmkan’s Invincible comic series, the Amazon show revolves around Mark Grayson (Yeun), who is just like every other guy his age — except that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man (Simmons). Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) stars as Mark’s mother. Cohan will voice War Woman; Coleman is Martian Man; Cudlitz is behind Red Rush; James brings Darkwing to life; Marquand is the Immortal & Aquarius; and Martin-Green is set as Green Ghost.
While an air date is yet to be revealed, Kirkman has previously said that footage isn’t far from being revealed.
Are you fans of the series? What about the casting? Let me know what you all think, gang.
