Following the news a few weeks back that Helen Mirren has joined the cast of Shazam! Fury of the Gods as the main villain (here), we have another great bit of casting for you tonight.
Now, look, I’ve known for many years that actress Lucy Liu was a goddess, but now Warner Brothers have cast her as one in the Shazam! sequel where she will play Kalypso, the sister of Mirren’s villain Hespera.
Oddly, neither character is based on a comic book version, although they are both daughters of Atlas (the ‘A’ in Shazam! – remember, the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and the speed of Mercury.
This is a cracking bit of casting and having these two ladies in the DCEU will be very exciting.
Shazam! will face the Fury of the Gods on November 4th, 2022.
