So, you may recall just a few weeks back, Warners/DC released a very cool teaser for their four big screen movies coming this year, including Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Flash, The Batman and Black Adam.
You may even have seen it screened with The Batman if you’ve seen it already on the big-screen.
Well, here’s the thing… aside from The Batman, which is already out, the other movies have all had their dates changed, and two are now not even coming out this year.
Sigh.
The new line-up looks like this:
DC League of Super-Pets moves from May 20 to July 29.
Black Adam moves from July 29 to October 21
The Flash moves from November 4 to June 23, 2023.
Aquaman moves from December 16 to March 17, 2023.
Wonka moves from March 17, 2023, to December 15, 2023.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods moves up from June 2, 2023, to December 16, 2022
Meg 2: The Trench has been set for August 4, 2023.
Yes, The Flash and Aquaman are now set for 2023 but, on the plus side, Shazam! Fury of the Gods has now been moved forward six months and we’ll have it this Christmas, where it will go up against Jim Cameron’s Avatar 2.
A fact that writer/director David F Sandberg is aware of… and has found the funny side to:
It’s funny how Shazam 1 was a Christmas movie released in April and Shazam 2 is a summer movie getting released at Christmas. It’s the Shazam way.

That’s a lot of Shazam! related goodness towards the end of this year… with Black Adam hitting before Halloween and Shazam! Fury of the Gods arriving just before Christmas.
But why is this happening? What could have changed DC/Warners’ minds just weeks after putting out the cool trailer announcing the 2022 line-up?
Well, honestly, no-one seems to be sure.
According to Deadline, Warners are making the changes due to Covid-related postponements over the last couple of years. Presumably, they just feel that rather than put them out while being under intense pressure, it’s better to take a bit of extra time and make them perfect.
It’s a real shame because, after hitting the ground running with The Batman last week, we thought DC/Warners would have been hoping to capitalise on it by giving fans/audiences a big year of DC hits… alas, we’ll still be getting Super-Pets, Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods this year… we just hoped we’d be seeing Flash and Aquaman too.
Thing is, this will likely also mean that the HBO Max Batgirl movie, which we were pretty excited for, will now have to be delayed too as it will feature Micheal Keaton’s Batman which will make no sense in the movie as his return will be explained in The Flash, so expect that announcement in the near future. Probably.
Oh yeah, Wonka and The Meg 2 have been pushed back too.
