Man, over the years the Ghostbusters have faced ghosts, ghouls, demons, demigods and worse but the scariest and most sinister entity they ever met was a man from the EPA.
Yes, back in 1984’s original movie, the team was almost destroyed by one Walter Peck, played by the great William Atherton and, while he was a big threat in the recent IDW comics, Peck, left, hasn’t been seen since the credits rolled.
Until now.
Leaked images from the new movie – currently called Ghostbusters Firehouse or Ghostbusters Hell’s Kitchen (though we doubt either will be the final name) – have revealed that Atherton is in London with stars Paul Rudd and (yes!) Ernie Hudson, near St James’ Park Tube Station along with the Ecto-1 car.
You can see the images here.
We learned a while back that the new movie will see original Ghostbusters Ray and Winston, played by Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, leading a new team of ‘Busters and we’re very, very excited.
Having Atheron back is a big win for fans of the original movie, and the franchise in general, and we’re very excited to see what his story is, forty years later.
Director talks upcoming Ghostbusters animated movie and its connection to the franchise
The movie is still penciled in for December this year and while I have a fear it’s not going to make that deadline, the thought of once again going to see a Ghostbusters movie at Christmas is a very welcome one, indeed.
With this, a new comic series from Marvel and an animated movie and series in development, it’s a great time to be a Ghosthead.
Ghostbusters: Firehouse [Hell’s Kitchen] will be directed by Gil Kenan and will also star returning cast Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace and Carrie Coon.
It’s sure for release on December 20th, 2023.
