And that’s a wrap!

Edgar Wright and Glen Powell have taken to social media to reveal that their Running Man movie, based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, written under the name Richard Bachman, and I couldn’t be more excited.

Technically a remake of the 80s Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, it sees Ben Richards (Powell) taking part in the deadly Running Man gameshow where you have to fight to survive but if you win, you become very wealthy indeed.

Edgar Wright to co-write and direct Stephen King’s The Running Man

Wright said his love for King’s original novel was what inspired him to make the movie: “One of the things about the book that I loved was the fact that Ben Richards is out in the world on his own, so it’s like the deadliest game of hide and seek,” he says, adding: “It does feel like making a road movie in a lot of ways: a very intense, dangerous road movie,” he adds. “Ben is moving through different environments and meeting different people as he tries to survive 30 days out in the wild.”

Simon Pegg says he and Edgar Wright are planning new movie… but there’s not going to be any Cornettos involved

Both the book and the ’87 movie are very different animals but it really feels like Wright is going for the vicious, nasty dark humour of the book and with movies like the Cornetto trilogy and Last Night in Soho behind him, he has proven that he can do action, comedy, action and horror, so this could be just the vessel to allow him to demonstrate all that in one exciting package.

See you all in November, folks.

Let me know your thoughts, guys…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
