Ahead of season 2 dropping next week, HBO Max has just announced via a new teaser (below) that The Last of Us has been greenlit for a second season already.
Early word on season 2 has been very positive and with the revelation that it only covers the first half of the second game, it makes sense that Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) will be back to finish the story… though it’s nice to know that we don’t have to worry about the series being cancelled in the meantime.
After five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.
Bella Ramsey, Pedro Pascal, Gabriel Luna are back and we also see Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara also guest stars.
The Last of Us is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and is also executive-produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells.
The show returns on 13th April.
