The first full trailer his here for Crystal Lake, the highly anticipated prequel to horror Franchise Friday the 13th, with Linda Cardellini as Jason Voorhees’ mother, Pamela Voorhees.
A prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise, the series follows single mother Pam Voorhees, who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before.
When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events are set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?
The most recent issue of Empire Magazine features an interview with showrunner Brad Caleb Kane who points out a few fun facts about the series, including where it fits in the movies’ timeline.
“I would love to go back,” Guillermo Del Toro talks Pacific Rim
The show takes place eight years before the movies: “Pam is a cook at Camp Crystal Lake, Jason is an eleven-year-old camper participating in all activities despite his physical limitations, and his mom is absolutely intent on making sure he has a normal summer outdoors with other kids… but with ultimately tragic consequences,” says Kane, “Things take some twists and turns on the way to Pam’s total psychotic break and subsequent bloody rampage.”
The new series is filmed at the original location of Crystal Lake and this will be important to the show’s story: “We shot in Blairstown, the original location where [Friday The 13th] was filmed, which hasn’t really changed in 45 years.
“We tried to totally recreate scenes from the original movie, but in ways that slightly change your understanding of the scene. Fans are in for a treat.”

If you look at the trailer closely, you’ll see that this series is not going to pull any punches when it comes to the gore and the kills.
Friday the 13th was always the poor relative to Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm St for me, but this definitely has my interest.
Releasing October 15 on Peacock.
