It looks like James Gunn has filled another major role in his upcoming Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow.
Andor actress Adria Arjona has signed on to the DCU sequel in a mystery role, which, we’re pretty sure, is Maxima, left, and not Wonder Woman.
Probably.
The role had come down to four final choices of Arjona, Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten before Gunn settled on the Star Wars star.
The comic book sequel, set to begin filming later this month, will see David Corenswet return as Superman, with Nicholas Hoult playing Lex Luthor.
Scream 8 on the cards already, “The studio would like to make it,” says Williamson
The enemies team up to take on the threat of Brainiac (Lars Eidinger), with a slew of Superman stars returning, such as Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Guy Gardner (Nathon Fillion) and Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific). Lanterns star Aaron Pierre will also be on the call sheet, reprising his role as the Green Lantern John Stewart.
In the comics, Maxima, if that’s who Arjona is playing, according to DC Database, is a member of the Almeracian Royal Family and current Queen of the planet Almerac, she visits Earth to pursue Superman as the only man worthy to be her mate.

Interestingly, it seems that the name Maxima is a title and has been filled many times, so there is a possibility that Gunn will do something new with the character who seems to only exist to lust after the big blue Boy Scout.
So, what do you think? Is Arjona playing Maxima or is she secretly playing Wonder Woman? She has been a fan-favourite for that role for a while now. Honestly, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if she ends up being Diana, filling the shoes of Gal Gadot who played her in the Snyder movies.
Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all.
