From the mind of visionary filmmaker Zach Cregger (Weapons, Barbarian) comes a thrilling — and terrifying — reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise.
In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.
For the Resident Evil fans, the movie takes place in Raccoon City during the events of the Resident Evil 2 game with Creggar previously saying: “I feel like this movie takes place alongside the events of Resident Evil 2. I like to think that everything that’s going on in the police station could be happening in this world.”

The movie will be told from the POV of Abrams’ character and will include first-person shooter action and there will be plenty of Easter eggs for fans, including weapon upgrades and creatures.
Creggar has said he wants to focus less on the zombies and more on the monsters of the games: “This movie doesn’t utilise zombies that much. It’s much more focused on the weird creature stuff than the zombies.
“You have this opportunity for the T-Virus to do all these really fascinating things to the human body, and to the world around you, and so to just limit it to zombies feels like a squandered opportunity, so I tried to really vary it up.”
The film stars Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser.
