WATCH: Netflix just announced Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 season 2

Netflix has just announced Stranger Things Tales from ’85 season 2, just days after the first season debuted on the streamer.

And not only that, but it’s coming this Fall which, realistically, is only a few months away.

Honestly, I haven’t even had a chance to watch season one yet, but it looks like I need to get caught up. I wonder if it’s still set between seasons 2 and 3 of the main show or if it’ll jump to a different time period in the series.

The animated series marks the second spinoff from the Netflix hit series after the hit (and brilliant) West End show, Stranger Things: The First Shadow.

The new animated series debuts in 2026 and will star the voice talents of Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Ej (Elisha) Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will, and Brett Gipson as Hopper. Additional voice cast includes Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips.

Showrunner Eric Robles, talking about the new season and the show in general, said he has a good idea how long the show will run for and the story it will tell alongside the main show: “I have a number [of seasons] in my head. This is going to be a really fun ride for the story that I want to tell. But I don’t plan to overstay my welcome.

“I’m giving you a very vague answer, but I have an idea of what feels right for me, creatively, in terms of the story introducing Nikki Baxter — her not being around anymore and what that means. Technically, she doesn’t fit into the timeline. It’s not in the cards, in the sense that this was developed when the Duffers were in season four post[-production]. What I can say is that I understand the responsibility of ending this story for this series correctly — what the kids process, how they move forward after that, how it connects perfectly to season three and why they don’t talk about her.

“Is it going to be perfect? I don’t know. But I’m going to do my best with my team. It’s not going to satisfy everybody. That is the most impossible task ever. But I can tell you that we will satisfy this story, Tales From ‘85.”

Gina Carano ‘has had talks’ with Filoni and Favreau… Cara Dune returning to Star Wars?

Creators Matt and Ross Duffer say that one of their first ideas for a spinoff was an animated series “to evoke a feeling of an ’80s cartoon’”.

Interestingly, the series, which is CGI (em, like all the great animated shows), takes place in the winter of 1985, between seasons 2 and 3 of the series, although how it fits into the overall storyline is still to be revealed.

Something from the Upside Down must’ve survived… Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 season one now streaming on Netflix.
