Good news, everyone! Futurama is back. Again.

Yes, all the way from SDCC comes the news that Futurama is getting a new Season 14 – which starts on Aug 3rd! – and it’s also getting three movie-sized specials in 2027, including a Christmas special! These three extended episodes, as Futurama has done in the past, will be counted as the show’s Season 15.

The Season 14 trailer below was presented by the show’s creator Matt Groening and head writer David X Cohen at SDCC, where they also announced the movie-length episodes.

Also revealed was the news that Season 14 will feature a time-travel episode which will see the crew of the Planet Express meeting the cast from Groening’s other hit series, Disenchantment, which was, oddly, a Netflix series and took place in the crumbling medieval kingdom named Dreamland and centers on the exploits of a hard-drinking princess named Bean (Abbi Jacobson), her plucky elf friend Elfo (Nat Faxon), and her personal demon Luci (Eric Andre) as they match wits with ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.

Tidbit:

Hulu has released the first look at the Futurama/Disenchantment crossover episode:

Al Jean says Jon Lovitz close to signing on for The Critic return

This crossover means that officially, Futurama, The Simpsons, Disenchantment, The Critic and Family Guy (and by default The Cleveland Show and American Dad) all take place in one reality.

Phew.

Anyways, returning for the new season(s) of Futurama are John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil Lamarr and David Herman, so the gang is all here. Literally.

Brace yourselves… The future is about to get a whole lot stranger! It’s a non-stop onslaught of swaggering space pirates, lab-grown meats, sexy scams… plus the shocking return of Dr. Zoidberg’s lost love!

You didn’t see that coming, prior to being told about it just now!

It’s a thrilling, all-new season of Futurama on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+, premiering August 3rd.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
