Big reveal time for Marvel fans, in particular X-Men fans, at Disney’s D23 Expo last night as we have confirmation of the first cast of the highly anticipated X-Men MCU movie.
Of course, after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we already knew that Sadie Sink was playing Jean Grey, and then we learned that FTN favorite Samara Weaving will play Emma Frost (now confirmed) and now we’ve learned that Get Santa and Heartstopper star Kit Connor will indeed play Scott Cyclops, Obsession’s breakout star Inde Navarrette steps up as Rogue, Wolfman and, em, Kraven the Hunter’s Christopher Abbott will be shaving his head as Professor X and The Braodway sho and Deadbeat’s Maya Boyd will, for now at least, round out the cast as Storm.

Stepping into the villain shoes will be Star Wars star Adam Driver as Dr Nathaniel Essex AKA Mr Sinister.
You may recall that the previous X-Men movies had set Mr Sinister up to be the villain in future instalments, with writer Simon Kinsberg, saying “We’d love to see Sinister. I think he is one of the great untapped villains in the X-Men universe, and we do have plans to introduce him into the world,” after Logan was released; however, that series came to an end before he could make his debut and now Marvel and Kevin Feige are stepping up to pick up the reins.

Sinister, in the comics, was a 19th-century scientist and geneticist who made himself immortal, and he has close ties to Apocalypse.
Interesting and honestly refreshing that they haven’t started out with Magneto as the bad guy, though I imagine he will appear too.
In related news, it was also confirmed that the MCU’s X-Men will make their big-screen debut on May 5th, 2028.
