After leading us all to think the final Fast & Furious movie – Fast Forever – has already started filming, star Vin Diesel has officially revealed when the last movie will go in front of the cameras.
In a new interview at the press event for the re-release of the original movie for its 25th anniversary (here), the actor confirms that shooting is getting ready to begin in just a few short months: “We start shooting in December, if I can make good on the request from the studio, and I’m in a good place.”

Going on, the star says: “I’ve had to go through four sets of writers, four years of development, to get to something that I felt would be worthy of a finale.”
You’ll recall that at the start of August, Diesel took to Instagram and said that he’d read the fianle script and it was very emotional: “I just read the Fast Forever script by Mike Leslie. It is the best script I have read in decades. I am still crying…”
Tidbit:
We already know that there are plans afoot for at least one Fast & Furious TV series, but now franchise star Jordana Brewster who plays Dom’s (Diesel’s) sister Mia, who is married to the late Paul Walker’s character, Brian, has shared that she would like the new series to focus on the next generation, in particular, Mia’s children with Brian: “I so admire the Taylor Sheridan universe, so I feel like we can really do that with television too,” she says, talking about the Yellowstone universe.
She goes on to say that Mia and Brian “have a son and a daughter, so I’d love to follow their trajectory and see what hell it is to raise kids that have Mia’s genes, Brian’s genes and Dom’s genes”.
She adds that the story writes itself. Hard to argue, really.
Also speaking about the final movie, franchise star Michelle Rodriguez said that the story will be very much brought back home for fans and will mirror the early days of the series before it became almost a superhero franchise. She said: “It has to do with cars, not this 007, bring your cars to space sh**.”
She adds that her big hope is that the last movie brings it “back to the community” because “that community has kept us alive for 25 years.”
Interestingly, when asked if this is really the finale, Diesel plays it very cagey and doesn’t answer, although we know there are still plans afoot for TV and movie spinoffs.
Does Diesel really see this as the end of the franchise? Do you? Let me know your thoughts…
