The new Harry Potter series has its first official poster, giving us a new look at Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter and the new Hogwarts castle.

A new era of Hogwarts begins. The HBO Original Series Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone premieres this Christmas on HBO Max.

The series, which is a fresh take on JK Rowling’s iconic creation, will star Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and has got one heck of a cast in the adult roles too with John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.

Tidbit:

Word is that the show’s first episode runs at 2 hrs 5 mins, only 27mins shorter than the 2001 movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which told the story of the whole first novel.

Make of that what you will…

“We’re delighted to have such extraordinary talent on board, and we can’t wait to see them bring these beloved characters to new life,” said Francesca Gardiner, showrunner and executive producer of the series, and Mark Mylod (Shooting Stars, The Stand Up Show), director of multiple episodes and executive producer.

Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts.
