Point Break Remake Filming Begins

June 27th, 2014 by Andrew McCarroll Comments

Well its finally happening, after much delays and recasting the Point Break remake has begun filming today. Prompting me to fire my gun into the air and scream NOOOOOOOOO!!!

After Gerard Butler dropped out he has been replaced with Édgar Ramírez who will be taking over the role of Bodhi, previously played by Patrick Swayze. Luke Bracey, known mostly for his role in Australian soap Home and Away will be stepping into Keanu Reeves’s wetsuit to play  “young, dumb and full of cum” undercover FBI agent Johnny Utah.

The film will not just focus on a gang of surfers like the original. But will instead contain a number of extreme sports experts including snowboarders, free climbers, motorcyclists and action movies latest go to stunt of choice wingsuit stunt pilots. With Utah attempting to infiltrate the team he suspects of masterminding a string of unprecedented, sophisticated corporate heists, to prove they are the architects of the mind-boggling crimes that are devastating the world’s financial markets.

The film, which sounds more like the god awful Vin Diesel movie XXX than a remake of the much loved original also stars Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer and Delroy Lindo and is directed by Ericson Core.

It is scheduled for release beginning August 7, 2015

Andrew McCarroll never quite built on the dizzying career heights that he hit at 6 years old, when as a member of the “Ghostbusters” he would charge his neighbours to remove any unwanted spectres. Now retired from slaying spooks, he spends his time obsessing over superheroes (especially Batman) and devouring shows like Dexter, Game of Thrones and Archer in a manner that would make Galactus proud.
