Stephen King teases new Dark Tower story

While all eyes have been on Mike Flanagan’s Dark Tower TV/movie series development, the creator of the series and author of the books, Stephen King has just hinted that a new Dark Tower novel might be coming.

Over the years King has hinted that there are areas in the Dark Tower universe he would like to go back to that world and flesh out several areas including the Battle of Jericho Hill and, cough, the ending of the books (which we thought the terrible, terrible movie was going to do but that’s anthor whole story), so him saying on social media that he’s returning to the world isn’t entirely shocking or unexpected.

Mike Flanagan drops some new hints about his Dark Tower adaptation, returns to movie and TV series idea

“I’m back in Mid-World…and the Territories. Don’t know if it will develop into anything–I never know–but it’s good to be back,” he wrote online, announcing his return to Mid-World, the core world of the Gunslinger/Dark Tower series, however, something else has my attention here, his mentioning of  ‘the Territories’.

The Territories will be familiar to fans of Jack Sawyer’s adventures in The Talisman and Black House, two novels written by King and now deceased author Peter Straub which are tales that run alongside the Dark Tower, taking place, you guessed it, in the Territories.

King has said in the past that before his death, Straub sat with him and they fleshed out where they wanted a third novel to go, so I believe – and it’s still exciting for fans of the Dark Tower – that it’s a third Jack Sawyer novel that he’s developing.

Stephen King has an idea for a Jason Vorhees novel and we’re all here for that

Whatever it turns out to be, it’s fun to know that King is still thinking about Mid-World and returning there and yes, all things serve the Beam.

Thoughts? Let me know them…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
