Some casting news has been revealed for two of the CW’s popular DC Comics shows.

First up, TVLine has reported about a casting call for Arrow season 5 for a character currently just called James. Described as a charming contemporary of Oliver Queen’s who is on a mission of vengeance.

“The character will just as easily shake your hand as your best friend or break your neck as your worst enemy — and you never know which one is coming. Either way, he’s more than capable of having a good time as he does it.”

The key word describing ‘James’ is contemporary. Will he be an ally for team arrow or will his methods be too brutal bringing him into conflict with Ollie and the team? The DC comics universe is chock full of anti-heroes and vigilantes that can be adapted for the series (my personal wish is The Question) so we will just have to wait and see.

The other news is in relation to Legends of Tomorrow whose producers are looking for two actors to portray characters with ties to World War II for its second season, TVLine also reports.

“A male in his late-20s to mid-30s is being sought to play a guy who grew up in the shadow of his World War II hero grandfather and has used a Han Solo-like facade to conceal his insecurity — until, that is, the development of super powers enables him to live up to his family legacy,”

The second series regular role looking to be cast is a female paramilitary team member living in the 1940s described as,

“An African-American, she is scrutinized in her time for both her gender and race and thus has worked twice as hard to be a perfect soldier. That said, she blames herself for — and aims to avenge — the death of a team member for whom she had repressed feelings.”

DC have many World War 2 heroes within its library including Sgt. Rock, the Blackhawks and the Losers so I would imagine these two characters will be derived from these properties with Sgt Rock’s helmet in particular being teased in set and Instagram pics by producers.
