Daredevil: Dark Nights has been my true introduction into Daredevil comics. They’re short, but sweet street level stories filled with action, great human moments, and a TON of fun that any fan of hero comics should check out.

Every one of the arcs in this series is handled by a different creative team. This arc is in the capable hands of the talented Jimmy Palmiotti. What he’s crafted here is a wonderful tale that blends everything I’ve grown to love from this series together beautifully. The introduction of Misty Knight was a great choice. The two have a wonderful chemistry that flows very natural and adds some witty back and forth in between and during action sequences. The first couple of arcs before this one had an extremely dark tone beneath all the fun quips and action, but Palmiotti seems like he wants to focus more on having a good time and I’m ALL for that!

The art here is fantastic. I like that the entire creative team changed with each arc because it gives every story its own identity. Thony Silas and co do a terrific job putting their own stamp on DD. The colors leap right off of the page and you really FEEL every bone crunching punch and kick delivered by our duo. I can’t wait to see how they handle the rest of Palmiotti’s story!

I wasn’t a DD fan until I started reading Dark Nights. This series has not only made me love the character, but he’s now one of my favorites in comics. Along with this I’m reading Mark Waid’s run and looking for any great DD stories I can get my hands on! (Suggestions please guys!) This is a sleeper hit that has been full of great stories and this one looks to join the arcs before it in greatness. If you love DD and are looking for more from him, this is a series you need to be reading and if you’re not sure about him just like I was, give one of these little arcs a shot! What are a few bucks when you get such a great product?
