FTN Exclusive – Nick Roche to Marvel!

September 30th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

It was announced by CB Cebulski on Saturday, at D.I.C.E. (Dublin International Comic Expo), during the Marvel Comics panel, that Irish Artist Nick Roche will be the artist on the new Death’s Head one shot comic launching in early 2014.

Roche, who is best known for his Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Doctor Who work for IDW, will be joined on the book by writer Andy Lanning as part of the upcoming Revolutionary War series a limited series written by Lanning and Alan Cowsill which aims to bring the long defunct Marvel UK characters back to mainstream Marvel.

“Alan Cowsill and I plan to be setting up all you need to know in the story itself but the main thing readers need to know is that back in the 1990’s Marvel UK had a brief glorious spot in the sun where we got to develop our own UK based heroes as part of the greater Marvel Universe,” explained Lanning.

This is a dream come true for Roche as it not only marks his first appearance at Marvel but also lets him work on a dream character. Last February, Roche had tweeted an image of the robot bounty hunter, asking to draw the iconic character.   It seems that, during the 20th anniversary year of the end of Marvel UK, Nick will get his wish.

FTN spoke to Nick, live at D.I.C.E. for an exclusive interview, where he revealed the news as well as much more, which you can see below:

I'm an LA journalist who really lives for his profession. I have also published work as Jane Doe in various mags and newspapers across the globe. I normally write articles that can cause trouble but now I write for FTN because Nerds are never angry, so I feel safe.
