Well, last night may have rung in the new year but it seems that DC Films co-head and President/CCO of DC Entertainment, Geoff Johns had plans to make 2017 an even more exciting prospect.

Johns announced on Twitter last night (below) his five most anticipated DC-related things in 2017 and in there was Wonder Woman (we’re all excited, sir), Injustice (the game’s return in big news here at FTN towers) and Mera being on the big screen for the first time (Aquaman must have his Queen)… but he also announced two pretty cool pieces of, em, new news.

Firstly he announced his return to writing comics and in there he teased an image of Watchmen’s Doctor Manhattan – we all know the Watchmen will tie into the current run of DC Rebirth – and the story started off with Johns’ writing, so this makes sense that he may be bringing this chapter to a close.

However, on top of all that, he announced another DC TV series coming this year!

Now we know that DC’s TV output is massive at the minute – Arrow, Legends, Flash, Supergirl, Lucifer, Preacher, I, Zombie and Gotham – and we know that we also have Powerless and Black Lightning coming this year, but what could the new show possibly be? And, more importantly, will it be based in The CW universe or one of the other existing show universes?

We want to hear your thoughts and forecasts, folks… and are you excited for a new Johns’ book? Let us know…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
