Kick-Ass 3 #8 finale changes EVERYTHING that has gone before

August 8th, 2014 by Marc Comments

With Kick-Ass 3 finally wrapping up with the latest issue (#8) the fans, who were all treated to a fantastic piece of work from Mark Millar and John Romita Jnr, may want to pay closer attention to the details in the background. It may just alter everything that has happened since the beginning.

The sharp-eyed guys at Comicbookmovie spotted the two panels below or rather they spotted the secret hiding within them and what they might mean for Kick-Ass ever since the second issue. In the scene where David and his nurse girlfriend, Val, are in the hospital “Dave Lizewski’s name is written on the list of patients in the ICU unit, something which makes little sense considering the fact that he’s physically fine for the most part here.”

But that’s not all, in the panel below, you will see ” a man standing over his son’s bed. Look familiar? If you go back and read through the second issue of the first volume of Kick-Ass, you’ll see that it’s an exact recreation of a scene from the opening of that comic when Dave’s (now DEAD) father visits him after he was stabbed and hit by a car following his first attempt at fighting crime as Kick-Ass!”

So what does this all mean? Well, if that is Dave on the board and his father beside him on the bed, then nothing that has happened since Kick-Ass #2 is real. They’ve done a Dallas on us guys (if the reference is lost on you, watch the clip below – Bobby Ewing has been dead for a whole season, his wife Pam has just woke up… the rest is TV history).

Or, it could be Romita Jnr (and Millar?) messing with us… perhaps it will be left for us, the audience, to ultimately decide what is real (relatively speaking) and what is a dream…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
