New Batman series reveals The Joker’s name… and it’s pretty familiar

August 21st, 2017 by Marc Comments

Well, if new Batman book: White Knight is anything to go by then we finally know The Joker’s real name… and it’s a name we’ve known for a while.

Almost 30 years in fact.

The new seven-issue series comes from writer/artist Sean Gordon Murphy and will see The Joker cured of his murderous villainy and return to the man he was before his skin was bleached and his smile became the stuff of a million nightmares.

And it turns out the Clown Prince of Crime is actually called…. Jack Napier!

Yup, Jack Napier. That, in case you forgot or were too young, was the name of Jack Nicholson’s take on The Joker before he fell into the vat of chemicals that turned him into Batman’s number one villain.

The announcement came from Gordon himself via Twitter (below) along with some new art form the book.

We’re still not sure if the book will be an Elseworlds tale exactly, but we’re guessing it’ll not be part of the current comic lore.

Whatever happens, it’s kinda cool that the movie and comic universes have clashed in this way.

So… is this Joker’s real name after all? Let us know what you think, guys.

Batman: White Knight #1 will be released on October 4th, 2017.

Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
