Lots of great stuff coming out of New York Comic Con for comic fans and Skybound don’t disappoind as they make some cool announcements for their Energon Universe.
The Energon Universe kicked off in 2023 with Transformers and Void Rivals and soon led into GI Joe and MASK and it’s teaming with fan favourites like ROM, Battle Beasts and more and now, finally, some of the biggest and baddest Transformers of them all, the Dinobots, are finally set to arrive in Transformers #42.
Officially announcing the arrival of the team, Grimlock, Swoop, Slug and Sludge, Skybound wrote on socials: TRANSFORMERS SKYBOUND #42. “THE DINOBOTS ARE HERE! I, GRIMLOCK, MAKE MY DEBUT IN THE ENERGON UNIVERSE, A HIGHLY ANTICIPATED MOMENT!”
Looks like Michael Bay IS set to return for another Transformers movie
Their debut will be from Robert Kirkman, Dan Mora, Mike Spicer and Rus Wooton, and it’ll hit shelves on March 10th next year.
Adding to the dino-theme, it was also revealed that Megatron will emerge as Megatronus Rex, making life even more difficult for the Autobots and humans.
But that’s not all… the Energon Universe will also be adding a few more obscure characters in their books and not necessarily where the fans might expect.
It has been revealed that obscure GI Joe character Lobotomaxx will appear in Void Rivals, which makes sense as he’s an alien bounty hunter and member of the Lunartix Empire.
As well as this, GI Joe tech team Battleforce 2000 will appear in MASK; again, this makes sense as they’re a hi-tech team whose weapons can double as vehicles and can combine into one bigger vehicle, which ties nicely into MASK, Transformers AND GI Joe.
As always, the expansion of the Energon Universe is a real source of joy and while the Dinobots are undoubtedly the most exciting addition, it’s hard not to look forward to Lobotomaxx and Battleforce 2000 joining the silly fun.
Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all!
