SDCC 2022: Cover and art for Paul Dano’s The Riddler: Year One revealed

July 22nd, 2022 by Marc Comments

From SDCC we have our first look at Riddler: Year One which takes place in the same universe as The Batman.

The book will be written by Riddler actor Paul Dano and art is by Stevan Subic and, based on the preview below, it looks gorgeous.

Riddler: Year One #1 will hit shelves on October 25th.

As I get older, I tend to hold out for the TPB of comic series, no longer do I fight for the exclusive covers and rare variants, but I might be tempted to get this on day one.

The title is a throwback to Frank Miller’s iconic Batman: Year One and will undoubtedly show us the events that led up to Naston putting on the  U.S. Army winter which Dano also had a hand in picking for the character (here), so it seems he’s very close to the role on and off the screen.

More Dano’s Riddler is certainly welcome, we just hope that, down the line, he loses the military garb and looks at least a little more like the villain we know and love.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
