The Ghostbusters meet their older selves in New Ghostbusters #16 touching tribute

May 25th, 2014 by Marc Comments

Anyone who knows us will know we are BIG Ghostbusters fans and at the minute nothing has us as excited as the work of Erik Burnham, Dan Schoening and co at IDW on their New Ghostbusters comic.

In the upcoming issue 16 (Released on May 29th)  the team continue their big Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary story Mass Hysteria (it’s part 4) and as the guys in grey get closer to Gozer’s sister Tiamat they meet a group on the stairs that they didn’t expect… themselves.

But, easter egg fans, their older selves are quite clearly modelled on Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson as they appear today… Harold Ramis looks similar to how he appeared just before his death earlier this year. And, in another bit of fun homaging, the team are clearly wearing their Real Ghostbusters Fright Features Action Figures outfits from the 80s toy range (below)

So, just goes to show… no-one does Ghostbusters better than the guys at IDW. Love it!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
