Walt Disney Pictures, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and Johnny Depp are ready to move forward with Pirates of the Caribbean 5 now that The Lone Ranger is done. They are currently in the process of hiring a director to take on the project.

A new report from Deadline reveals a short list of three directors (4) who are up for the job. Those directors include: Fredrik Bond(The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman), Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki), and Rupert Sanders(Snow White And The Huntsman).

The average moviegoer will be unfamiliar with many of these names, with the possible exception of Sanders? Deadline says that the Kon-Tiki guys are the names coming up the most, but at this point no offer has been made to any of them. The director will be locked within the next few weeks, with production is being slotted for late this year or early next year.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides went on to gross over $1 billion. Taking into account the names here, they’re clearly looking to inject fresh creative energy to the mix.

Which of the directors named here would you like to see take on the fifth Pirates movie?
