Affleck steps aside as The Batman director

January 31st, 2017 by Marc Comments

Ben Affleck will not be directing The Batman, the actor has confirmed.

In a statement, the star said he couldn’t perform the tasks of both acting and directing for a character who holds “a special place in the hearts of millions“.

Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require,” he continued. “Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

With this news comes the question…. who will now direct The Batman. No word yet but one name being mentioned is Warrior and The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor. Warner Bros. are already actively meeting people to figure out who will helm this important film in the DCCU.

More as we get it.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
