Alan Moore’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen TV series in the works

July 10th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Fox has given a pilot commitment for a small screen adaptation of Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill‘s classic graphic novel The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

The Hollywood Reporter says that the series will be a drama about a group of Victorian age literary characters, including Captain Nemo, the Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde who team up to fight a common foe.

Michael Green (Green Lantern, Kings, Heroes, Smallville) will serve as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner if the pilot gets picked up for a full series. The Matrix‘s Erwin Stoff will also executive produce. Neither Moore nor O’Neill will be producers on the series.

This really was a great comic, the first big screen adaptation had some moments but it never fulfilled its potential. This series might actually be better off on TV if they do it right.
