FIRST LOOK: Brian Patrick Wade joins Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as the Absorbing Man!

August 21st, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Just last week a set video from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, led to some speculation that the Kree were making an appearance on the show, in a more active role. But the actor we saw has now been announced. Marvel has revealed that Teen Wolf actor Brian Patrick Wade has joined the cast of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Carl “Crusher” Creel, aka the Absorbing Man! It was him we saw in the video.

Creel’s powers allow him to take on the properties of any surface or object he touches, making him super strong and durable:

“The Absorbing Man can alter the molecular structure of his body, his clothes, and his wrecking ball to mimic the properties of any material he touches. This process also gives him enhanced strength, endurance, and in most cases, resistance to injury. If the object touched holds some form of energy, such as a battery or a blast furnace, Creel absorbs these properties as well. He also has limited shape-changing abilities when absorbing certain objects, such as forming hammer-like fists when touching a hammer or growing to enormous size when copying items of massive power or strength. More recently, Creel has developed the ability to control the mind of another, even over vast distances. He was been shown to be able to “re-grow” his arm when it fell off (in his rocky form) by re-attaching it, then changing back to human form.”

The official press release is as follows:

Carl “Crusher” Creel, known to Marvel fans as the Absorbing Man in the comics, will bring his unique power set to “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” with the season premiere Tuesday, September 23 at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC!

With the news we’ve also got your EXCLUSIVE first look at Brian Patrick Wade (“Generation Kill,” “Teen Wolf”) as Creel directly below! With his ability to absorb the properties of anything he touches, Creel will put Coulson and his team through their paces when their second season kicks off…but you’ll have to wait until then to see how their battle turns out!

Wade joins a number of new characters and guest stars on the series’ second season, including the previously announced Adrianne Palicki (Bobbi Morse, a.k.a. Mockingbird), Lucy Lawless (Agent Isabelle Hartley), Reed Diamond (Daniel Whitehall), Nick Blood (Lance Hunter), Henry Simmons (Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie), and Kyle MacLachlan (Skye’s father), alongside the returning cast of Clark Gregg (Director Coulson), Ming-Na Wen (Agent May), Brett Dalton (Grant Ward), Elizabeth Henstridge (Agent Simmons), Iain De Caestecker (Agent Fitz), and Chloe Bennet (Agent Skye).
