Bumblebee spin-off movie gets a director

Travis Knight has just landed the job of helming a standalone Bumblebee movie.

According to Deadline, Paramount recruited the Kubo and the Two Strings director to handle the Transformers spin-off due to the success of the latter which received received two Academy Award nominations for Best Animated Picture and Best Achievement in Visual Effects.

The current draft of the screenplay came from Paramount’s Transformers writers room and was penned by Christina Hodson.

Bumblebee is slated to open opposite Godzilla 2 on 8 June 2018.
