Colin Farrell and Paula Patton in talks for Warcraft

Deadline is reporting that actors Colin Farrell and Paula Patton are up for roles in the upcoming video game adaptation, Warcraft. Negotiations are now underway with the production targeted to begin in January 2014. But according to Deadline:

“I’m not sure that Farrell is going to make a deal — sources said it’s 50/50 — and Jones is testing other actors for the major roles.”

The Warcraft universe is a rich fantasy setting that revolves around the epic conflict between the opposing forces of the Horde and the Alliance. Since its debut in 1994, the game has developed a loyal following worldwide, with several bestselling, award-winning PC games and a range of widely popular licensed products including novels, action figures, apparel and more. Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft is the most popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game of its kind in the world.

The Duncan Jones directed film is being produced byThomas Tull and Jon Jashni for Legendary along with Blizzard and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner. Charles Leavitt wrote the script.
