Dan Slott you magnificent beast! Why are you such a MAD GENIUS?

I have said it before and I will say it again, Doc Ock as Spider-Man is downright one of the greatest ideas to ever be put in a comic book. I love every issue of Superior simply because I want to see what lengths Ock will go to this time. What crazy fantastic idea is going to pop into his head and what is he going to do to those who cross him? Well issue #21 once again proved how far Ock will go to prove how much of a better Spider-Man he is compared to Peter Parker, but this also proved how far he will go to prove he is a better Peter Parker.

Ock’s past is starting to come back to haunt him as his former love Angelina Brancale a.k.a The Stunner is back and wants revenge on the wall crawler for killing Otto. As if that is not enough Otto is also dealing with Professor Lamaze who is disrupting his plans of receiving his Doctorate because he says his thesis is plagiarized right from Otto’s work. Unlike ol’Parker that would rationalize what to do and try to come to a legitimate understanding, Ock goes the other way and does something pretty fantastic to combat both of these issues at once. How, you ask? Well he simply;

BRINGS HIMSELF BACK FROM THE DEAD!

Holy smokes the lengths Ock will go to just to achieve his goals is spellbinding. I could not believe what he would do just to make sure he won the day. I mean this was a Kirk move, it really was, Ock does not believe in a no win situation and at every single turn he proves why he is smarter and better than not only Parker but everyone else in this universe. His arrogance aside he is a genius, he has the answers and he executes them with so much precision you wonder when will it all backfire on him?

Well something the Green Goblin got a hold of may answer that question very very soon.

Action and ego aside, however, Slott does manage to give us some character growth in this issue. Ock seems to finally be acknowledging his feeling for Anna Marconi. I have loved her character since day one and honestly I think she is the perfect fit of Spider-Ock. She understands him it seems even if she doesn’t know the whole story and she is the only person other than himself that Ock genuinely seems to care and worry about. It is shown in this issue when she is almost crushed by a bus, the worry Ock shows and the determination to save her is his #1 priority. Even after he confronts Angelina he states he has now knows where his true heart lies and what he must do to preserve his future happiness.

Now Slott, I know what you are doing and you are freaking brilliant in that. Ock has someone he cares about now and that will lead him to acknowledging that the love Parker had for MJ and Aunt May was probably not as displaced as Ock previously believed. However, please, please, please don’t have Green Goblin throw Anna off a bridge.

PLEASE!

Once again though Superior Spider-Man proves why he is fantastic and proves why Dan Slott is the mad genius of the Marvel Universe.

So from Spin to all of you I give this issue a SUPERIOR
