With the world starting to finally move out of lockdown, we can start to look forward to events and shows starting up again and one of the ones we’re excited for is London’s Doctor Who: Time Fracture.
The show will feature locations and characters from the Doctor Who universe in a live event in which the audience are participants. It will have a cast of over 40 people who are currently rehearsing.
But, even more exciting, it seems that, in pre-recorded segments, we’ll see the First Doctor and Captain Jack become part of the story (which, as far as we know, is related to the who Time Lord Victorious multi-media event which ran in 2020/2021, meaning that now these two are also part of the tale).
John Barrowman will return as Captain Jack Harkness, right, and David Bradley, above, will return as the First Doctor (originally played by William Hartnell in 1967).
“This is going to be something really special. Anyone who sees the show who is not a Doctor Who fan when they go in, surely will be when they come out! It’s going to be an amazing experience,” Bradley said.
While Barrowman added: “I wanted to get involved not only because I love storytelling and I love Captain Jack the character, but also because this introduces Jack to the next generation of Doctor Who fans. If you’re coming to this – why not dress up as your favourite character? it’s going to be like Comic Con but with a storyline! Create your character, get in there and enjoy the journey.”
It’s always nice to have these characters back and it would be very cool to experience this live. Wonder will we ever see a version released that we can watch at home, for those who can’t get to London?
Time Fracture, the immersive Doctor Who theatrical event will take place at will take place at Immersive | LDN, a former military drill hall dating back to 1890, with the first performance kicking off on 26th May, 2021.
UPDATED 13/05/2021: According to the official site, Barrowman has been removed from the experience due to some ongoing investigations: “Immersive Everywhere have taken the decision to remove this pre-record from Doctor Who: Time Fracture… We will continue to include content that pays tribute to this brilliant show that is Torchwood so as not to disappoint its fans, and are working on an exciting storyline to be announced soon.”
