David S. Goyer talks how Batman vs. Superman might play out on the big screen

While speaking at the BAFTAS David S, Goyer explained that they can’t dwell on what the fans want too much, because it hinders the creative process:

“One of the things that has been fun for us, is we’re a bit a further along than what I think people realize. From a fan point of view, you’re conscious of that when you’re working on these things, but you can’t let yourself be paralyzed by that. At the end of the day you still have to create something. And if you try and think, ‘Well what would the fans like’ then you stop being creative. It’s sort of like where does it end? You have to write the story that you want to write, and hope that people want to see it.”

But who does Goyer think would win in a fight between the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel?

“Most comic book purists would say Batman, because he is the ultimate strategist. Even though it makes no sense whatsoever. If Superman just flicked his finger, Batman would be done for.”

The new film is being scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Snyder. Man of Steel‘s Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman in the film along with Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will also reprise their roles in the sequel. It is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, 2015 with production expected to begin in February of 2014 in Detroit.
