DC reveal 2015 crossover event: Convergence

November 3rd, 2014 by Marc Comments

Marvel have been releasing images for the last few weeks on numerous books hitting next summer and now DC have revealed details of their big crossover event of 2015: Convergence.

According to SuperheroHype : “The series, previously teased at the end of the Superman: Doomed storyline, will reveal that big bad Brainiac has taken cities from both planets and timelines that no longer exist and trapped them in bottles, much like the very famous bottle city of Kandor. The event kicks off when Brainiac takes all of these different cities and pours them into one big dome, hence “Convergence.””

Co-publisher Dan DiDio, speaking about the event, said: “There is a story and a character for every generation of DC Comics fan. We’re picking up at points of their lives where we left them and finding out what’s gone on with them since then.”

Artist and legend Jim Lee adds: “What we’re really addressing is they all exist and have existed and exist within the framework of the New 52,Convergence is in many ways the most meta epic event we’ve done.”

It’s interesting that the DC movies and TV shows have recently been confirmed as being a reflection of the mult-verse as opposed to Marvel’s linear universe.

Convergence will be a forty two-part miniseries and during the nine weeks in which it runs all od DC’s regular books will be on hold. Jeff King will write the core story with help from Dan Jurgens and an outline from Scott Lobdell.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
