Edward James Olmos has confirmed that he will appear in Blade Runner 2049.
The Battlestar Galactica actor told the podcast The Trend Talk that while he was originally bound to secrecy on his appearance, he could now confirm that his origami-loving character from the original Ridley Scott film, Gaff, would be returning.
“I signed a seven page non-disclosure contract,” Olmos said. “I did, my manager did, my agent did, everybody did. I couldn’t talk about it. I couldn’t talk about it to anybody about it. Guess what? This is the first time that I’m telling the whole world, that yes, I am going to be Gaff in Blade Runner 2049.”
While he only had four scenes in the original film, in this new one he only has one scene. Nevertheless, the actor describes it as “poignant”.
Blade Runner 2049, starring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling, and directed by Denis Villeneuve, opens this coming October.
